GUNNM
GUNNM is an action manga with a cyberpunk setting, known in the U.S. as "Battle Angel Alita". Its creator Yukito Kishiro has continued to publish new chapters sporadically from its start in 1990 till now. A video game was made for the PlayStation in 1998, and was one of the few action games besides Oni to feature deep martial arts; it was only released in Japan. Acclaimed producer James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez released a live-action movie based on this property in 2019 which covers the early story of the manga; the movie was profitable and popular but received middling scores from critics. In Nov. 2025 Cameron reaffirmed his and Rodriguez's commitment to making a sequel.
