This will need at least 1600xYYYY to look decent... --geyser 00:44, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- Er, OK, I'll just shut up and wait for a standstill. --geyser 00:48, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
Wow, someone sure notices new pages fast (and not even in the Main namespace, but he still found it... hmm...). Maybe you are using your magical sysop powers. Anyway, I was trying to make it work even at 1024x768, but at this stage it clips Shinatama off at that resolution. (Is that what you're seeing too?) But if we assume that most people are at 1280x720 or more, there's no problem. But the fact that I haven't replaced the Main page means that I'm not committed to this redesign yet. And nobody said I can't work on two things at once.... --Iritscen 02:02, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
1) Recentchanges; 2) indeed the fancy stuff is clipped at 1024 and lower, and no, there's no assuming "most people are at 1280x720 or more" for the Main page; 3) there is a problem at any resolution as far as I can see (Opera), because Shinatama and the haiku overlap with each other and with other stuff (like the table's rightmost header), at 1600x1200 and lower; 4) two things? more like a dozen things, I'd say... quite impressive for a headless chicken ^_^... ; 6) really, what's wrong with the current Main page? --geyser 02:16, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- 1) Wow, I am stupid. I've actually never looked at that page before. Probably everything *but* that page. 2) Yes, I will have to fix the clipping before I can suggest using it as the Main page. 3) Hmm, I used Safari's Developer Mode to test the page with every major browser for both platforms, but it seems that I changed something a bit since my last compatibility check. In Firefox the haiku is not overlapping her, just close to touching her, which I wanted. I could simply pull it back a bit to the left, I guess. But Shinatama *is* supposed to overlap with the table. She shouldn't be blocking the words "FOR MODDERS", but she should be overlapping the table, which is why I went through the trouble of making a PNG with transparency for her. I keep vacillating between having her leg overlap the table, though, and having her stand above the table like before. 4) What can I say? I'm a little crazy. 5) There is no 5. We shall not speak of it again. 6) I didn't know if you were seriously asking before. Nothing major is wrong, but the layout is just a little... I don't know, lackluster. My version was actually going to have other graphics sprucing things up a bit, if I could just get Shinatama positioned right. But also I felt there was too much copy on the page and wanted to lighten its load (I even took out the Site Map link because I think the page is not very useful and I don't feel like updating its contents when the main page is working well for me now, so I'd like to just kill my old "Main Page"). Honestly, I wasn't going to spend nearly this much time on a new Main Page, I just wanted to remove the text I thought was unnecessary -- but when I did so, Shinatama was pushing the table down because the text no longer gave her enough vertical space, so I starting trying to integrate her with the table and one thing led to another. Oh well, back to the trailer ^_^' --Iritscen 02:48, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- Her sock is complettely hiding the "DDE" in "modders" right now (Opera). I can understand the ambition to make the page look like a fancy website, but then you'll have to make those "div"s and cell backgrounds and whatever work at any resolution and in any browser, which is a webmaster's nightmare (did you notice that the position in the "div" is relative to the overall frame, so its relation to the page's content is incorrect while previewing?); you just don't want to do that now, and possibly ever. Also, the site map is not dear to my heart (one more page to maintain, in our community, is just one more appallingly outdated page at the end of the day), but I don't think of the "note on the GO feature" as redundant. As for OC, ADHD, EFD and whatever else you may come to call it... Well, admitting you have a problem is the first step, I suppose. ^_^

- Well, for now let's call it a failed experiment. I never thought web design could be such a pain in the butt. It's never been my area of expertise and I think I prefer it stay that way. I do have to say, though, that the GO note is quite condescending. I don't think it really helps people learn to use the wiki. I mean, the Go/Search box is a pretty self-explanatory feature. If you thought that people weren't using the wiki enough as a resource and needed help getting around, that speaks more to a lack of straight-forward arrangement of articles than their having trouble figuring out the search box. Not that the wiki is poorly organized, but there's still room for improvement. I'll show what I mean in the near future. --Iritscen 15:03, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- I carried over the smaller changes that I wanted to make to the Main page, so that will satisfy me for now. --Iritscen 15:11, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- I didn't make up EFD, it just came up while looking up ADD. We've talked about the GO note before, and I don't consider it an insult to intelligence; especially the part that encourages the users to take action if there is no direct hit. About your changes: I disagree with "History of Modding" (there's definitely more to that page than a history lesson) and a few other things, but since I'm the only one who cares, I'll just shut up. As long as you're happy... ^_^ --geyser 17:05, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- See the wording of that link now. Better? Worse? It may not be possible for us both to be completely happy at the same time, but maybe we can at least balance our happiness like a seesaw so we're equally happy. :-) How happy are you with the MP now, on a scale from 1 (seething hate) - 10 (loving it)? I think I'm feeling a 7 right now (no Bungie pun intended), fairly satisfied. --Iritscen 18:13, 1 August 2008 (CEST)

I have a request for a link to Developer_Mode on the main pge, I'm not sure where it should go, perhaps even AE:ONK EdT 17:37, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
- I added ONK to the Modding Projects category, which is linked to from "Mods" on the MP, and added a Dev Mode link too. I added it after the link for Cheats so it wouldn't make that column longer (it currently matches the left column in length, which looks nice), and because they're related fairly closely. --Iritscen 17:59, 1 August 2008 (CEST)
