Just dumping some previously overlooked links where Shinatama shows up in some way or other:
- http://marathon.bungie.org/story/newjan-feb01.html
- On the Edo Era puppets (karakuri)
- http://karakuriya.com/english/doll/shinatama.htm -- English
- This page seems to be saying that the translation of Shinatama is "magician"; that's kind of interesting, although maybe not relevant to Oni in any way; also, translations of a set of sounds can be completely different depending on the kanji used to write them, so this may not be the meaning of Oni's "Shinatama" at all; P.S.: "Tama" usually means soul, so perhaps "shinatama" is closer to "necromancer"
- http://www.imperioanime.com/karakuri-ningyo-munecas.html -- Spanish
- http://miksike.com/docs/elehed/4klass/4nuku/elutuba/marionetid/jaapani.htm -- Finnish (?)
- the English version of the pages above used to be around, but I can't find it now...
