The ideas for RS as a sequel have become so extensive that a possible gaming title is no longer a priority at all. It's fun enough to think about the future for this piece of science fiction. -- Doomsday scenarios including human-killing AIs tend to annoy me. I want to tell a story in which AIs, despite some risks, should be seen as something positive overall.

Time Setting
A prequel with focus on the kids development.
... but RS is set into the year 2055. Didn't Oni take place in 2032?

Well, (in my opinion) neither Oni's original nor RS's timeline is that much fitting into 2032.
Mai and Muro are physical and psychological shaped to fulfill their destiny forced on them. But how exactly did what happen.

Sturmänderung

* This point of view is supported by some footnotes of Oni's Wikipedia Article (following footnotes are from 21 August 2006)
An expansion of the original. Highlights events of other characters and fills the gaps in Konoko's diary.
# There have been debates as to whether 2032 is the actual year of the game's setting as the manual has never clearly stated this to be so. It is only given that the World Coalition Government was formed in January 12th 2032, and as the game progresses, the possibility of the in-game storyline actually being set in 2032 gets lesser.
|-
# According to Konoko's in-game diary, November 22 was a Monday. This is true for the years 2032, 2038, 2049, et cetera.
|
# Officially confirmed to be set in 2032 by Bungie.net's Oni FAQ, although this is still debated due to how tightly the events of Oni would have been packed together, and that the FAQ went up during the Bungie/Microsoft take over.

Possible alternative names: Black season, Daodan Days, Armageddon

Some conflicts with the manual:
"We don't know why we exist but we go on and deal with the issues of our time..."
* "It's 2032 and the world ain't what it used to be." + "In a matter of years all traces of the old governments faded away."
|-
* "They told us that abuse of technology was the enemy and that the Technology Crimes Task Force was our guardian." + 13_65_29 Kerr: [...] I took you to the TCTF. [...] + 4_54_21 Konoko: [...] Griffin made me a monster when I was 07 years old [...]
|
:: There's no explicit statement that WCG established the TCTF but it's most probable.
Silver Dawn
* "Orphaned at the age of 3, the woman now code-named Konoko has been raised as a ward of the World Coalition Government ever since."
::So Hasegase invented his miracle in less the 3 years? (The time is bordered by Jamie's death and Konoko arrival at the TCTF.) That seems very less time for such a super project. Maybe he worked on the idea before he met Jamie. The Daodan's origin is unclear after all.

Some people think that the Daodan is a planetary threat that must be stopped.

What happen if I take my thoughts into "2032 - today".
And the only way to do so is the injection of nanorobots into the Earth.

|
Mind Seal

* Oni's technology is for 3032 more unlikely (in my opion).
The technological Singularity appeared and humans have more power than ever before.
* The TCTF would not be established by WCG but maybe expanded into a secret police.
:: Nothing is said about the time here: "They told us that abuse of technology was the enemy and that the Technology Crimes Task Force was our guardian."
:: If WCG was founded in 2032 then Kerr and Konoko were already 20 years at the TCTF.
<!--* "Mercenary Snipers are veterans of the Uprising War that left the World Coalition Government in control of the globe. [...]"-->
* Tracy said: „Terrance Griffin is a valued Agent who has devoted his entire life to the TCTF.“
:: "his entire life" should be more then one year.
