The 1999 trailer also reveals that computer screens (and maybe other environmental objects) were going to have animated textures. This feature is still present in Oni, but only seems to be used once, for the news broadcast on the giant screen in Rooftops. The original intention seems to have been to bring more life to the environment by making all computer screens animated (at least, the two that appear in the trailer are animated).

The engine still allows [[TXAN|animated textures]], but Oni only seems to use this feature once, for the 15-frame news broadcast on the giant screen in Rooftops. Animated textures would have brought more life to the environment, but at the cost of added memory -- especially for the smooth animations that the trailer displays at 0:16 and 1:17, which appear to be 30 frames each.
