Just as for consoles, a horizontal line signals a page break and italics are comments.
The diary pages are available globally (they're stored in level0_Final.dat) and unfortunately they're a bit messed up in the original game:
- The diary pages are interleaved with Combat move pages, which is an odd choice (the diary is in-universe, whereas combat moves mention keypresses and such).
- The diary opens at the first page (ESCAPE MOVES) in Chapter 11, Chapter 12 and Chapter 13. In the other chapters, it opens at the last page.
(Probably the diary opens at the first page by default, unless there are new diary entries or combat moves associated with the level.) - The Chapter 12 entry (Monday - Nov 29) is wired for level7 (Obsolete) instead of level14 (Science Prison) and therefore appears in Chapter 6 (Wednesday - Nov 24).
From then on, it is displayed at this same position, between the entries for Chapter 5 and Chapter 6, creating the awkward impression that Mai can read the future....
Based on the calendar's correlation between dates and days of the week, the year is probably 2032, but can also be 2038, 2049, 2055, etc. Note that 2032 is a "Bungie year": 2+0+3+2=7, and the same trick works with 2032 in binary, which is not a likely coincidence or a mathematical inevitability!

- Monday - Nov 22
This place is really big. What the heck are they making here? Weapons? Robotics? They must be building something large. I'd better check the data consoles to see if I can figure out what it is.
Some of this stuff looks like atmospheric processing equipment. I can't believe I KNOW that! Maybe that means I'm a nerd?
Just great...my first mission and I started to argue with Commander Griffin. But I just know this lead will pay off. It has to!
CHAPTER 03 . PUZZLE PIECES

Barabas! I can't believe it! I know his record...he's very strong. I know I'm not supposed to enjoy combat but this guy will be the first real challenge I've had.
I can't believe it...the building is full of innocent people and those Strikers were...just horrible. I know the head man behind the Syndicate is named Muro. I swear when I find him I'll...I don't know what I'll do!
First Musashi Manufacturing, now Vago biotech. Why? The Syndicate are getting more aggressive all the time. Why would they need industrial equipment and access to cutting edge biological research facilities?
CHAPTER 04 . TIGER BY THE TAIL

It's strange, but nobody really talks about Muro very much; not even Griffin. When I ask they try and change the subject. Well, I'm not scared of him. If Muro wants to go to war that's fine with me. When I DO finally catch up to him I'll wipe that smug little grin off his face for good...
What happened to airport security? Normally this place is swarming with uniforms. I could swear Muro told them all to take the day off.
CHAPTER 05 . HOT PURSUIT

- Monday - Nov 22
At least I know what kind of plane Muro is heading for (Shinatama says its a Wucraft m17e VTOL transport). That will help us generate a destination profile.
How the heck did the Syndicate manage to set up an air base in the airport cargo hangars!?! And airport records show they've been rerouting heavy machinery shipments to sites around the world.
CHAPTER 06 . COUNTERATTACK

In-game, the diary entry for CHAPTER 12 . SINS OF THE FATHER appears here due to messy binary resources.
- Wednesday - Nov 24
The Syndicate got close to TCTF HQ without us knowing! Vans with troops, attack helicopters! How the heck did they get through the surveillance drone web that covers the city!?!
It looks like they've sabotaged all the power substations and that took down the building static defenses. The whole power spine of the building is off-line. They really knew how to hit us!
The command center is up on top...that explains the helicopters. Why hit the bottom?
CHAPTER 07 . A FRIEND IN NEED

Poor Shinatama. I don't know if they programmed fear into her but if they didn't she's probably figured it out on her own by now. She may not be flesh and blood but she is as much a person as I am and more human than Muro could ever be.
Griffin FORBIDS me to go after Shinatama? I can take care of myself! This isn't like that trap at the manufacturing plant...I KNOW I can help her. I've got to try...
It seems like all my life Griffin and my trainers have always told me to hold back; don't get carried away. I don't know why, but I can do things that other people can't. And I have had enough: I'm going to cut loose and show these Syndicate lowlifes what pain is all about.
CHAPTER 08 . AN INNOCENT LIFE
Related : Speech Objectives Consoles
- Wednesday - Nov 24
This place is a maze. All that fighting on the upper tiers has destabilized the whole building; any more big shakeups and this whole place could come tumbling down. I wish I could ask Shinatama for an escape route but I guess that isn't going to happen.
Nothing makes sense any more: the Syndicate are getting more and more aggressive. What could Shinatama know that is so valuable to them?
CHAPTER 09 . TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCES
Related : Speech Objectives Consoles
- Friday - Nov 26
Maybe I'm going crazy, but there don't seem to be bad guys or good guys any more. The way I see it there's some secret and there are lots of people trying to keep me from finding out what it is. I can deal with that. I guess I HAVE to deal with it. I just hope they're smart enough to stay out of my way.
This whole place is a trap. I can feel it in my bones. Maybe they think I'll just walk away because it's too dangerous. They're wrong.
CHAPTER 10 . CAT AND MOUSE

That ninja...why do I react to him this way? He feels familiar and I hate him for it. We're like animals whose territory is threatened. I know when I find him we'll be nothing but claws and fangs. The strangest part is that I'm looking forward to it.
That data file contains information about my past. About my dad. I guess I knew I had a father at some point but I don't remember him. Now I want to know everything about the man I tried really hard not to think about...

Now I know why my dad was driven, but I don't know why he disappeared. What was he working on? The technology in his lab was unlike anything I'd ever seen before. What's the big secret that everyone doesn't want me to discover?
It sounds like my mom was brave. She didn't let people push her around and she fought for what she knew was right. I won't do any less.
Note to self: no more pizza before bed! Nightmares!
In-game, this diary entry appears as soon as in CHAPTER 06 . COUNTERATTACK (between the CHAPTER 05 . HOT PURSUIT and CHAPTER 06 . COUNTERATTACK entries) due to messy binary resources. Its logical place is here.

Muro's men have been up to something big. They have made secret heavy machinery shipments and infiltrated Atmospheric Conversion Centers all over the world. Ironically this may be the thing that Griffin had been preparing me for.
I don't know what Muro's building, but at least I know where. The tracker readings from his plane project him touching down somewhere deep in the mountains.
I know what I am now, and what my brother is. And I also know that whatever he's doing I'm the only person who can stop him.
