:I see that we're still getting vandalized. Really, is barring anon edits a bad thing? I know there's the ''possibility'' of bots registering and then editing, but we can easily stop that with capchas (hopefully not the really hard kind, even I can't do those, and I'm more or less a human being!). Let's not be held back by fear, from trying to fight spambots. Remember, the only thing to fear is fear itself. And clowns. Fear and clowns. --[[User:Iritscen|Iritscen]] 16:07, 28 March 2008 (CET) | :I see that we're still getting vandalized. Really, is barring anon edits a bad thing? ::::But the second is still unclear. "He" deleted a section and left one address at first (look up history, get address and insert it on http://logbud.com/domain_whois, surprise: that side is hosted in the USA). Then he came back to delete the same section. Just strange. In both cases he left an additional ''signature'': "dH0cf7" and "HfpZ3o sd89f984q34slf". ==Spam no more?==
As of June 2, Alloc has disabled automatic account creation by installing the [[mw:Extension:ConfirmAccount]] extension. Now, any new accounts have to go through Alloc. I guess that, as long as Alloc can tell a spammer by his (requested) user name, we should be safe from now on. :-) --[[User:Iritscen|Iritscen]] 18:55, 11 June 2011 (CEST)

Exactly four hundred and twenty five wanted pages of a problem. Unnecessary links should be terminated ASAP (i.e. anarchy, what was THAT about?!) and all links that wish to be preserved should have at least a place-holder article. This may not be spam, but it's certainly like it. So commands the Imago. [[User:Imago|Imago]] 23:14, 28 July 2008 (CEST) | Exactly four hundred and twenty five wanted pages of a problem. :If we create placeholder articles, it will be harder to tell what needs to be added or not. At least with redlinks we can see where we need to add things, and all of those things are nicely orgaized on one nice page. :) (Gumby) | :If we create placeholder articles, it will be harder to tell what needs to be added or not. ::I am all too well aware of the issue and have tried in the past to fight it. You should be aware that [[User:geyser|geyser]] (who runs this wiki, whether he admits it or not) is personally responsible for redlinks like "anarchy" and he and I have been back and forth over why that does or does not make sense. His position is that all his redlinks are ideas that can be related to Oni if anyone ever takes the time to write those articles, and that in the meantime the redlinks aren't hurting anyone. My position is, the one making the redlinks should be writing the articles or at least starting off with stubs for others to build upon. geyser has not had the time to write those pieces, and I have not had the time to either write them or remove the redlinks. In short, I'm not telling you what to do, but I do encourage you to not remove the redlinks too quickly or you may find your edits getting reverted... certainly think about whether you or anyone could ever write an article on the wiki with that title, and if so, let it lie. Also, you can consider changing redlinks to links to entries in Wikipedia or the Wiktionary with the <nowiki> | ::I am all too well aware of the issue and have tried in the past to fight it. :::Imago: If you really think weeding out redlinks is the best use of your wiki time, as compared to, say, fixing messy or outdated entries on prominent pages, then I have two suggestions for you:
::#If you fix a redlink by making a quick-and-dirty stub, please label it as such, preferably with a category template: stuff will be tidy your way (no red links) and stuff will stay tidy my way (virtually empty pages identifiable as such).
::#If you feel like linking to wiktionary/wikipedia a lot, please consider doing so by means of a template (e.g. <nowiki>{{wp|cancer}}</nowiki> or <nowiki>{{wk|megalomania}}</nowiki>). Same sorta compromise as the stubs, basically.
:::Iritscen: no, I am not running this wiki. Especially now. Especially at this time of year. You can tell by the tons of outdated info in critical places - Elvis has left the building, and everybody else still thinks Elvis is in charge somehow.
