The Help:Contents page is for explaining all about a wiki.

However, why should we go to the trouble of writing that up for you when helpful Wikipedia people have already done it?

Please read their Help section if you would like to know more about wikis in general.

Bear in mind that the style guides and procedures that Wikipedia follows are too bureaucratic for our tastes, but everything else is pretty relevant to how we run things here because their wiki and ours run off the same software, MediaWiki.

So sit back with a cup of tea and read over their work; even if you're not totally new to wikis, you're sure to learn something.
