"Hatnote" is Wikipedia's term for a disambiguation note placed at the top of an article to let the reader know about similarly named articles. A sample is seen directly above. This template serves two purposes: making it easy to have a consistent hatnote style around the wiki, and marking the enclosed text as exempt from page preview popups (a test of the template: the preview you get when pointing to Oni should start with the text "Oni is…", rather than showing the hatnotes which precede that sentence and point to other pages with "Oni" in their titles).
