This seemingly-official cover was the first image associated with the Amazon listing for Oni, appearing around Nov. 5, 2000, though it was quickly followed on Nov. 10 by [[:Image:Early box art2.jpg|this second one]]. While very different from the [[:Image:Windows_(UK)_box_art_-_front.jpg|final box art]], it uses the same Matrix-style streamers of 0s and 1s. The 3D-modeled character depicted in this image is rather mysterious and does not seem to resemble either Konoko's in-game model or her [[1998|1998 trailer]] model. After appearing on Amazon for a few days in 2000, the Oni kanji with the woman inside was not seen again until the 2019 re-discovery of the Taiwanese release of Oni by King Interactive Multimedia, which uses it on both the [[:Image:Windows (TW) release 1 - front.jpg|front]] and [[:Image:Windows (TW) release 1 - back.jpg|back]] of the box.
