Sometimes a table of contents (TOC) does not benefit from having numbers to the left of the section names; usually this is the case when pre-existing numbers in the section names visually clash in some way with additional numbers in the TOC. Place this template where the TOC should appear in the article (i.e., after the lede) to get a un-numbered TOC.
