This category is for templates that help us format or construct tables. More specifically, this means tables that are meant to be seen as (or to contribute to) obvious tables, as opposed to simply using table markup behind the scenes to lay out some kind of information in a precise manner. If we counted all uses of table markup as table templates, then half the wiki's templates would be in this category.
