===Bonus chapter: Soul fusion===
(Part I – One after millions)
After millions of iterations there was finally a match. (Describe briefly the navigation map: supercluster, cluster, local group, Milky Way, and solar system.)

The ship was coming back to life.
The guardian himself was only half awake but to no point on this long journey he has slept. “How do the humans say?” After all time that has passed even he hardly remembered the expression. He was a hyper-AI but memories were stuffed with Nishio’s brain copies, all possible databases and the myriads of experiences he had made over the aeons. “Ah.” He was grinning. “How could I forget? – It’s the right place and it’s the right time. – Well, sorta.”
Black void. Ha! As if that would be anything new in the life of nihilist. But then in little flashes it was all back. The sensory inputs. His senses. The reanimation process drove electric waves through his body and the will to life took over again. A strong breath. Another one. Nishio was wrestling for air. “Oh my god, what is this? – What the hell is happening?”
“Don’t worry.” The guardian was checking him. “You are doing well. You just need to get used to it again.”
Nishio was pressing the hand against his chest. The heart. A heart! It was beating. He had a biological body. After ages. “Why? What’s the purpose of this?” “Don’t make such a shocking face. – Calm down. – I have to show you something.” Nishio stood there against a wall, the black sand was still falling off. His previous bodies were technological so much more advanced and now he was a mere human. He was afraid as if he could die again any moment.
He straightened his stand, one hand still that wall. “What? – What is it?”
“Earth. The year is 2056.”
PART II – Soul fusions

Green Village.
They were once again in that consuming fire storm, literally melting. The bioc under their shoes began to boil too. Heavy smoke spread over the battle field and grew dense. The energy cells of Nishio's modified graphene shield exploded under the heat and pushed a discharge through the highly conducting-made gases. Light. Everywhere. It took massive amounts of energy out of this mess. In a shock reaction the materials turned into a blue-colored [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerogel aerogel] imprisoning all combatants. Except for the core. A felt eternity - just a minute for the outside world - after changing the aggregate phase Mukade, Daya and Nishio managed to break free. Their bioc aerogel had a more glass-like strength, giving in to their combined force. Daya: "It's over Mukade, I have it under control now. The bioc will do no more harm."

===Epilog===
After finding this perfect reincarnated universe, the guardian knew he would had to put the journey to an end. It would take awful a lot of time but eventually history will repeat over and over. As a consequence time capsules of Nishio or other people would accumulate until they prevented the universe from getting reborn properly since they hold back to much energy for the necessary life-supporting physically constants. The guardian wasn't really afraid of that scenario, he was an artificial being after all. But he was programmed to protect Nishio. Nishio's own instinct of survival, that he never managed to give up, would have eventually killed him. The guardian couldn't let his creator get stranded in that thermodynamical wasteland and getting stuck between Big Rip and Big Bang.
===Comment===
Originally my intention was to let Nishio travel eternally with no chance finding true soul peace. But after millions of iterations, things should start to repeat somewhat. In a physical finite universe possibilities are limited. Astronomical huge, yes. But still, limited. Given enough time there should emerge universes that look similar to former ones. So in the end, this was just logical.
I feel somewhat relieved now that I know how to end this whole cycle. Sure, there's still a lot of work to do. But the pressure is partially gone.
For those who wonder why I mix Big Rip and Big Bang together. In this fiction the universe has a [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbruPR3o0Zc 4-dimensional donut shape] where as matter is accelerated when being sucked in (Big Rip) and ejected (Big Bang). We are just lucky for living between those two extreme phases. Imo, such an shape can really make sense, especially if think about a few basic physical laws.
This is a block that I came up with 4 years ago but I couldn't image using it for Oni since it looked totally unrelated. That has changed with the other sequals after Mind Seal.
:The ultimate question: how came our universe into existence?
:"Ex nihilo nihil fit." It means "from nothing comes nothing." In science this thought is manifested in the "law of conservation of mass" and in the "law of conservation of energy" and they turn out to be true day by day. Matter can be converted into other forms of matter and energy, and energy can be converted into other forms of energy or matter, but during these conversions no piece of matter or energy ever fades to nothing.
:So, it wasn't "creatio ex nihilo" - creation out of nothing. But still, we exist, ergo: our universe always existed. It's a closed system after all.
Well, even if this explains how the universe is functioning, it doesn't explain why. :D
