Does the recorded footage have to be "gameplay"? A lot of it can be cutscenes or other non-interactive scriptedness. --geyser 00:26, 8 October 2008 (CEST)
- Well, I just thought that "Recording video" was too vague of a title. First of all, people are usually interested in recording actual footage of themselves playing, not cutscenes, but secondly, I would assume that people would automatically lump in cutscenes and scripted stuff with this term "gameplay" anyway; "gameplay video" doesn't need to be interpreted as requiring player interaction during the video if we are not being strict dictionarians. --Iritscen 00:41, 8 October 2008 (CEST)
- First you made up a bad name, now you're making up reasons to keep it... nice. Please get used to thinking a whole lot more before renaming/splitting/merging stuff around. For example, "footage" is a less ambiguous synonym for "video" (maybe too idiomatic though). You may also want to talk of "capturing" rather than "recording" (if anything, it avoids confusion with start_record etc, used for FILM authoring). Thus instead of "Recording gameplay videos" you could have used "Capturing game footage" or (why not KISS) "Capturing Oni footage". Finally, keep in mind that this page could be covering screenshots at no extra cost, and for sake's sake, don't make it a rule set in stone that tutorial names have to be gerund groups. --geyser 01:30, 8 October 2008 (CEST)
