Re: 'not knowing how to fix a redlink', I am all for filling in articles on red-linked topics like Regional State Building. I just felt that an article on Myth was outside this wiki's scope. Since you've gone ahead and created one, I don't have any objections to its existence, but it wasn't something I felt was worth my own time to make, seeing as its connection to Oni is extremely tenuous. I mean, we don't even have an article on Bungie, so I thought you understood that some topics were not worth writing about. Myth and Bungie at large are already covered thoroughly on other wikis. We do have an article on Bungie West, though, and rightly so because they actually made this game and because they are not as externally well-documented as Bungie East (Bungie proper).
Just writing this out to give you an idea of my thought process in removing the Myth redlinks (and I realize that I probably should have made the edit summaries more explanatory), since it has to do with my overall approach to scope in this wiki. --Iritscen 19:44, 6 October 2008 (CEST)
- The way I see it, everything and anything is worth writing about, as long as you can add some original considerations which can not be found elsewhere: whenever you can stress something non-trivial on our wiki's side, I believe it is better to do so, and to provide links to further reading then and there (Wikipedia, Magma, Halopedia, whatever). Halo's ONI is a good example of a largely anecdotal "trivia", for which it's OK to refer to Halopedia "when and if" it comes up. Myth, however, is quite relevant to Oni, due to the numerous Easter eggs and to a contemporary, sympathetic fan community (and The Tain is a very good example of a "Mod Depot", btw). Therefore, I think it deserved an article, eventually. I would have understood a redirect to Easter eggs, even though that would have left the community links to Magma and The Tain out of the picture. Deleting the redlink altogether, without even a direct link to Wikipedia or Magma, was not appropriate. --geyser 21:07, 6 October 2008 (CEST)
- As for us not having or needing a page about Bungie, you can go ahead and delete the Bungie redlinks, but I think it's better to set up a redirect pointing to either Bungie West or Oni. More generally, whenever you feel trigger happy about a redlink: 1) please consider that the redlink may not actually be a problem to anyone but yourself - redlinks are about the tidiest kind of mess there can be on a wiki; 2) please consider writing a short article or setting up a redirect, along with linking to an external resource or clearing the link altogether. Basically, take into account the possible recurrence of such a link throughout the wiki. If there's half a dozen distinct Myth references in Oni, there'll be dozens of places in need of a Myth link; in that case, it seems appropriate to set up a more or less stubby Myth page, allowing for Oni-relevant development and exhaustive "further reading" links (and there's the Myth community, which is sorta relevant to us as well). --geyser 21:07, 6 October 2008 (CEST)
