User:Iritscen
Iritscen is one part Oni fan, one part general nerd, and one part obsessive-compulsive attention-deficient maniac. He also enjoys talking about himself in the third person (which he wants you to know is called "illeism"), programming as a hobbyist, dabbling in everything under the sun, and using Macs.
He has also been, inexplicably enough, a sysop since October '08 and holds the title "Hapécat-in-chief".
Administrative tasks
- Researching unused images to see where they should go (or if they need deletion)
- Herding cats
- Categorizing uncategorized images
- Filling in wanted pages (or deleting redlinks)
- Watching over orphans
- Monitoring recent changes, deletions and uploads
Other wiki projects
- Reconcile Category:Templates with OniGalore:Templates; one or the other is probably totally redundant
- Document any templates that are currently lacking directions on how to use them
- Follow through on proposal in "Current events" for organizing modding-related pages
- Localizing textual information and images on other oni2.net sites that are linked to from here
- Designing enemy pages, starting with Tanker as pilot experimental page
- Working on combat move pages such as Crescent Moon Kick
- Putting BSL files into place such as BSL:Tutorial/airport1_level_logic.bsl -- not really a good idea, I need to clean up that little mess
- Finishing User:Iritscen/BlenderTutorial
- Puttering away at my ideas for an Oni sequel and an Oni prequel
- Administrating the Mod Depot. See this forum thread for info.
- AE:Anniversary Edition Tools (Macintosh only) (by EdT)
- This is very much a work in progress, and it keeps getting new features. Basically a graphical front-end for OniSplit.
- Improving textures and 3D models
- My main focus lately has been improving the look of the key models (you know, the major characters). There are two basic issues with models that can exist. The first is a discrepancy between an in-game 3D model and the art as drawn by Lorraine. This is most noticeable with Griffin and Muro. The second issue is simply a lack of polygons; the models were not bad in 2001 but can use some work to keep them looking decent in 2008.
- Current progress:
- Polishing models and fixing UVs on Griffin and Motoko, getting HD textures for both.
- After Motoko and Griffin, I plan to move on to either Muro or Konoko. Maybe Shinnie after that.
- Tracing Lorraine's art with a vector app to produce large, clean-lined versions. Currently lives here, but finished pieces are mirrored to the wiki. Somewhat on hiatus at the moment due to my spending most of my free time on other Oni projects. Soon to be moved to my oni2.net page to allow downloading of original vector files.
Future ideas for Oni work
- - Trying my hand at writing a user-friendly visual-oriented Oni modding tool, perhaps along the lines of OniTools
- - General re-texturing of Oni's environments at higher resolution
- - Lightly poly-modding other, less-important characters to make things look consistent with HD key models
- - Scripting new scenarios
- - Modeling a new character, animating new moves for them
