::"I think the transition to the picture doesn't fit the pacing of the trailer" Yeah, I was thinking that too. | ::"I think the transition to the picture doesn't fit the pacing of the trailer" Yeah, I was thinking that too.
::"I could just install the FRAPS demo and record lots of footage [...] that would be top-notch except for the watermark." ...Am I the only one who sees lots of muddiness and artifacts in this video? Again, keep in mind that it gets compresssed once or twice more before the final cut of the trailer is produced, so it can only get worse. I've been satisfied with almost all of the footage provided recently, but this just isn't final-cut quality, and I already have this video in the trailer at placeholder-quality. Also (and this is not rhetorical, I'd really like to know), are you okay with a fraps watermark in our final trailer, geyser? I thought that would be a dealbreaker in and of itself even if the video looked fantastic. I mean, you know, we're kinda going for a professional look here or else we wouldn't be fussing over all those other details. --Iritscen 01:34, 21 August 2008 (CEST) | ::"I could just install the FRAPS demo and record lots of footage [...] that would be top-notch except for the watermark." ...Am I the only one who sees lots of muddiness and artifacts in this video? :::Do I need to say pretty-please-with-cherries-on-top? The problem with that, I'm afraid, is that there's quite a lot of masochistic hex-editing involved, and Loser just doesn't have the heart to write it all up in human-readable form. Sometimes Loser even fails to keep track of the changes he did, and thus has trouble supplying the .oni files for us to use or analyze. I certainly hope this is not the case here. --geyser 13:58, 21 August 2008 (CEST)
:::Am I the only one who sees lots of muddiness and artifacts in this video? This is Windows Movie Maker output, probably not the best quality setting, but better than the doppelgänger video IMHO. Placeholder quality, definitely, and also good enough for my own draft, which will be scaled down to 320x240. --geyser 13:58, 21 August 2008 (CEST)
:::I already have this video in the trailer at placeholder-quality. I encourage you to offer regular WIP snapshots of your draft to the community. This will motivate others and make my own iteration(s) more specific. Pretty please with cherries on top--geyser 13:58, 21 August 2008 (CEST)
:::are you okay with a fraps watermark in our final trailer, geyser? Eventually I intend there to be a placeholder draft that has flawless pacing and camera movement etc, i.e. that will be top-notch except for the occasional crappy video quality and a few watermarks. I intend to release this draft along with the "final" trailer, and even instead/ahead of it - if the "final" content is hard to come by. --geyser 13:58, 21 August 2008 (CEST)
:::I mean, you know, we're kinda going for a professional look here For me, that professional look owes much more to the directing than to the resolution or compression of the footage used, the presence of watermarks etc. I agree that cleaner source footage will make a (slightly) better impression in a high-bitrate 640x480 video, but the "fantastic" pacing of the trailer comes first... As for the FRAPS watermark, dunno, really. I guess it would be quite appropriate to turn the watermark into a tongue-in-cheek message such as "FRAPS is a great program, but we really can't be bothered to spend 37 bucks on the full version. Long live FRAPS demo! Wheeeeeee..." --geyser 13:58, 21 August 2008 (CEST)
