The Anniversary Edition is the result of years of research, work and discussion in the Oni community. The first real release of the Edition was made seven years after Oni's release, hence the original name of the project -- "Seventh Anniversary Edition". The Edition is essentially made up of four parts:
- A framework that allows users to make and distribute mods more easily
- A collection of mods to represent what the community is capable of
- The latest patches to the game application
- Some of our modding tools (currently just OniSplit and a GUI for it)
The AE is always being worked on in one way or another; it's not a project with a defined feature set, and it won't ever have an official "final release". Think of it more like the flagship for our modding work -- it's our way of presenting some of our latest work, and for distributing the latest patches.
Current Features
Here is a sample of what each of the four parts of the AE contains. More details on each part can be found in the Directory to the right.
- The framework globalizes some game data so that you can mod more freely; it also uses packages to keep each mod separated and allows you to selectively install only the mods that you want.
- The included mod packages offer new content such as playable characters and weapons, as well as polishing melee combat.
- The patches are in the form of new game applications (and, in Windows, the Daodan DLL), which provide numerous fixes for bugs and crashes in Oni.
- OniSplit is the main program that we use to export game data from Oni so that we can edit it, and then re-import it as game data.

Here is the latest release of the Edition, in 3 flavors:
- Windows: 2010-05 patch (12 MB) (patches AE 2009-07 to 2010-05)
- Windows: 2010-05 full (11 MB) (a fresh install)
- Mac: 2010-05 (22 MB)

The Edition is always in active development. Therefore, we are always recruiting for the AE Team. The more hands we have helping, the more work we can do to improve Oni.
