Two days later, on Nov. 26, Konoko goes to the Regional State Building where records are kept, in search of information about her real identity.
Summary
Her move having been anticipated by Griffin, the TCTF are positioned around and throughout the building (both regular and Black Ops troopers). In addition, Konoko must fight the building's regular security guards as well as Ninjas, a newly-encountered foe. She finds a terminal to access her biographical data, but before she can download it, the elite ninja Mukade swipes the data and saves it onto a disc. Upon tracking him down, he escapes through a window and she pursues. He escapes the roof by zip-line, but as a subordinate ninja does the same, Konoko latches onto him and is carried to the next rooftop.
Added Value
- Griffin's ensured that the TCTF are surrounding the building, so why does Konoko have no trouble entering through the front door? Presumably they want her to enter so that she's trapped, but if they plan to send in troops afterward in a concerted attack, it never pans out. As it turns out, Konoko exits the building from the roof.
- The mystery in this level is why there seem to be two separate groups carrying out an operation in this building in addition to Konoko. The TCTF we can understand, but why are the ninjas here, and who do they work for? Many players assume that Mukade works for Muro due to Konoko's words in the next chapter ("You are one of Muro's thugs, nothing more"). If this straightforward interpretation is correct, why wouldn't Muro want her to learn about her father's discoveries? Perhaps he wants the opportunity to feed her lies about what her father wanted to accomplish. Konoko will learn from the disc that her father wanted to save people from the poisoned outside world. Perhaps Muro wants her to believe something else (Cf. "I have accomplished everything our father dreamed of doing." from the last chapter). Or perhaps Mukade isn't working for Muro at all; the Added Value section in the next chapter will elaborate on other possibilities.
