as far as I know "crusty" can be referred ''sensu latu'' to a person , like a military officer.

I am convinced that the exile is a choice or a status mirroring Konoko's pride rather than a surrender.
[[Category:Oni 2]]
It represents how Konoko is uncapable of finding a ''compromise'' with the world around her and the consequences of her actionson the life of those people she was used to think as her protected. In this sense I see a strong similarity with the concept of amnesia: at the same time we assume a more pessimistic view, since we say there is no way out, there is no relase from pain and guilt. Amnesia would be a too generous gift in these cases, and self-denial is not an easy thing to get.

Konoko  thinks of herself as someone special (an incarnation of evil? an half-savior? an alien?), she considers her guilt so great that no one might conceive, understand or embrace. Her power to protect or to destroy is such great, that she has resolved no one should be allowed to ''use'' her again: not a person who is capable of doing a mistake- She's secretely convinced her potential is so unique and nothing in the world would be worth of exploiting it. Her involvment in the small contests can represent only waste her potential, the real world won't let her "blossom" in the way she and the Daodan should deserve. There's no one left to explain her the way she might follow.
She thinks no enemy is a match for her: where's the thrill of rivalry and having an enemy then? Konoko is not willing to accept lessons any more, from anyone. So how can we expect she will accept authority once more?

More than the exile itself, it is the end of the exile that I am interested in: on one side we describe the limbo following the cataclysm ad the reduced scope of action of both CWG and Syndicate, on the other side we have to describe the event or the chain of events that drive konoko back to society. These events rely on those individuals (extraordinary ones, far less extraordinary ones) showing Konoko her "weaknesses" and her "inner beauty".
